Whitney has always had a competitive and passionate mindset about health and fitness. She started competitively swimming at the age of 6, made the Junior Olympics at age 10, and then tried something new: soccer. Whitney played on several Premier soccer teams that traveled up and down the east coast and later played in college. She has her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and was a personal trainer for 10 years. In addition to her new role at FitnessBank, she is also an online health and fitness coach.

Why is living a healthy lifestyle important to you?

“After college, I dabbled in the running scene – multiple half marathons, Newport Marathon in 2016 and Boston Marathon in 2018. I retired (from running!) and realized what I wanted my body to look like wasn’t going to come from doing cardio but lifting and lifting heavy. I am in the gym 4 to 5 days a week; 2 days of lower body, 2 days of upper body, and a full body workout.”

How do you get your steps in?

“Being a personal trainer, I was constantly moving and would get anywhere between 15k and 20k steps per day. No longer being in a gym atmosphere for most of my day, I will walk or do the stairmaster for at least 20 minutes on the days I workout and go on longer walks or a hike on my rest days. I typically park far away from the front door, get up from my desk frequently, and enjoy cleaning and organizing when I’m home.”

Top 3 ideas to get your steps in:

  •  Get moving, as much possible — take the step when you can, instead of the elevator or escalade
  •  Train with friends and family — be as social, as you need to be
  •  Make it a habit — little everyday establishes a foundation
  • Favorite season: Fall
  • Favorite food: Seafood & Tacos
  • Bucket list destinations: Greece, Dubai, Bora Bora, Bali
